So on the internet there has been this great IM hoax on a player from the USC Basketball Team. Someone from the Cal Rally Committee posed as a UCLA co-ed (cause we all know UCLA co-eds are hot =) ) via IM (a la AIM) to Gabe Pruitt (starting guard at USC) as “Victoria”. A luscious IM romance ensued. Apparently the first chants of “Victoria Victoria” from the bench were “priceless”(see pic), and it worked. Cal beat USC 71-60 as a result of distracting their starting guard.

I would have to agree with Schriener that this is one of the “cleverest social engineering attack I’ve read about in a long time”. It’s almost *revenge of the nerds* played out via online. It’s also a clear indication of the impact on the online world.
I’m thinking of building a site called geekrevenge.org. Anyone got anything to contribute? I know you do =), perhaps I’ll make it anonymous.
