Titillating Times
Nice another salicious title to get you guys to click. Okay I’ll follow it up with some juicy stuff that I’ve been meaning to write about. The other week,I met this normal looking guy..an engineer in the Silicon Valley and I found out he was in the Adult Industry. Yes a real porn star! Okay only his wife is a porn star… he just runs the site, does directing and video production. This only happens in LA… not the Silicon Valley.Boy did I have a slew of questions, as I’m a naturally curious human being =).
On the Moral Front
So, okay I’ll have to get my moral position out in the forefront before people beat me up, I do not support the porn industry from a moral standpoint. That being said, I the guy I met was way cool and would hang out with him. I find people that choose industries in the path less followed quite interesting.
On the Social Front
I asked him what kind of porn that was the most popular. Surprisingly it was interracial porn. I wasn’t expecting that. He said that most of the time they shipped it down to the South as it was more uncommon. He said that anything that was rare was more popular: feet, midgets… to name a few. I find deviant behavior quite interesting in a way how it reflects on the society. In a society what makes things taboo? Rarity though always seems to be a characteristic of taboo (yes my *professional* sociologist opinon).
It’s a well-known secret that the Porn Industry drives technology… or rather the Porn Industry has the early adopters of technology and really drive it. I did hear an *unstantiated* rumor that Google (initally named *backrub*) started by crawling Playboy Images (tho a step up from porn) . See it does help drive technology =). So I asked him what are the hottest things from a tech perspective. Here’s a few trends … no surprise:
1. Anything that increases video bandwidth
2. Video to the iPod (phone)
Good Times. Titillating Times.

Actually we shoot in the silicon valley quite often as well as in LA and in Las Vegas.
