Group Blogging at Blogher
Today, I attended a session at Blogher called “Group Blogging”, you can see the full title in the picture of the schedule. Okay I have to admit, I mainly went to really see if it was THE Mandy Moore and Sara Gilbert. Well those movie/tv stars weren’t really there, but it was still a wonderful session.here was a vast representation of subject matter from knitbloggers, to a group podcast (called smashcast ran by high school students).
I learned the following:
- Group blogs had to find a common ground between the contributors.
- Many group blogs made face to face contact, that helped reinforce the culture and held those accountable who were thinking about being disruptive to the culture
- For group blogs that were purely online, the level of dedication needed to be of the same level for the contributors
A great delight was meeting 4 teenage students from around the Bay Area that ran a podcast show called Smashcast. Their focus is teens in science and technology. It was great that these students were taking initiative and becoming “media literate”, which I’ll talk about that in a later post =). I think I must be getting old, because I was fascinated with how it is different growing up with the Internet integrated into a teenager’s life. Can anyone say “myspace”? I was able to ask the teens some questions mainly about Smashcast, and will update this post when the podcast gets edited. Updated. This only contains the podcast with smashcast, to get the whole podcast, go to this post:
