Ni Hao from China

Greetings from China! Although I have been able to get an internet connection before this, I have never been able to get to my blog site to write a post. However, once I landed in Hong Kong, the net has been just like home! (Note:Whether I could not get into my blog due to unintentional blocking or poor international optimization of the site, I’ll never know, but I was able to get to most if not all of my subscribed blogs on bloglines =)).

At any rate, it’s been 10 years since I’ve been back to China, and I’ve so far been very surprised at how much it is so much like the United States. There’s milk, cheese, coffee and Equal Sugar packets! Their emphasis on the tourism industry has been greater, and I worry less about leaving my bags with the bellhop.

I must admit I love going to countries that are enduring recent political change. I like them because in some ways it is a society that is going through its teenage years, full of potential, hope and ideals. It seems that China is moving quickly past its teenage years and nearing adulthood. China’s economy is growing to a mature state where people worry less about where the next meal is coming from. Modernization has hit China. How do I know this? I saw a Walmart here.

  1. [...] Hollyster is visiting China and while there she demostrated that fact that the power of one Laughing Squid logo can trump 10 Chinese McDonald’s logos anytime. Just wait until we supersize it. photo credit: Hollyster tags: Laughing Squid (T) , logos (T) , McDonald’s (T) , China (T) , Hollyster (T) posted by Scott Beale on Monday, October 23rd, 2006 Comments RSS feed | Trackback URL [...]
