Death of Craftsmanship

China has long been a country that is full of mom & pop shops. Very enterprising people. Now it is full of fast food chains both American (Mc Donald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and yes Walmart *sigh*) and Chinese (Cafe Coral). I passed by a Chinese chain and saw an old man that was working the wok. A sadness hit me as I realized the death of craftsmanship is occurring in China. For some reason if he was working out of his own stand, I would not have been so sad, as his dumplings would have been a crafted art, not some processed recipe. I think there is concern of this type of death signals the death of uniqueness and human touch. Perhaps I am being too dramatic.
