Leaving the Running Man
Well after 2 and a half years, I have decided to leave AOL to pursue other opportunities.
Like the corpspeak? I’ve decided to join startup land. There I’ve blogged it, so I guess that makes it real =).
This will be the first time I’ve worked at a company that had less than several thousand people, so I’m expecting to learn a lot. It’s scary and exciting at the same time, but what’s life without a bit of both? I’ll let you guys know a little more as we become more public =).
AOL has been a wild ride and has given me opportunities to do certain things I’ve could not have done elsewhere. I was able to meet all these great influencers from organizations (Mobile Monday, e27, SFWIN, STIRR, Lunch 2.0, Women2.0 , and New Tech Meetup… did I catch everyone??) and connect some of them to AOL. I also learned about design within a large organization, design with cross functional teams, and what it takes to make a web product =P, oh and met some awesome folks (Mike, Kevin, Cindy, Frank, Dossy, Edwin, John, and Shawn + others who do not blog) .
The folks in the Mountain View office are cooler than being *ice cold* and really contribute to AOL’s current overall strategy…so I leave with a shameless plug: If you are looking for a place to host your geek event, contact Mike Macadaan (mlmacadaan[at]aol[dot]com). While you’re at it, check out his fun blog: gumhouse.

[…] I’m in a predicament. I decided to leave my previous employer to do a startup, and I want to tell everyone what I’m doing. Problem is we are in stealth mode. This can prove challenging for a personality like myself, who leans towards extroversion and likes to uh… gab […]
